CANADA’S GOLD

DUKE OF MANCHESTER ASTONISHED. AN ARISTOCRATIC PROSPECTOR. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 15. (Received Dec. 16, at 5.5 p.m.) The Duke of Lancaster, on arriving from Canada, said that he went to prospect for gold. He was astonished at what he found. Canada has a gold belt at least 1200 miles long and 200 broad. So far 100,000 acres have Been plotted out, which means that the field has only been scratched. He was of opinion that Canada would find it profitable to develop gold mining rather than cereal growing. He had secured a claim in Northern Quebec. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
