Ip. the presence of a great gathering Prince Arthur of Connaught laid the foundation_stone of the war memorial at Durban. He paid a tribute to the generous response by the men ot both the British and Boer'races during the war time. The ceremony "was most impressive. This is Prince Arthur of Connaught’s last public appearance in South AfricaHe issued a farewell message acknowledging the kindness that the Princess and himself had received irrespective of race, creed, and party.
