SPORTS’ CARNIVAL.
The Sports V- onderlaitd Carnival continues to prove one of the leading attractions just now, though the weather last night had ai -somewhat detrimental effect on the attendance. A musical piogramme was contributed during the evening by the Dunedin philharmonic Society, while Mr A. R . G-a-rd’ner and his party contributed a small musical comedy —“The Doctor's Confession.’’ The Ist Battalion Band was also present and gave several selections. A large consignment of daffodils from Lawrence came to hand yesterday, and these were on sale during the evening. The remainder of them will be disposed of at a street stall to-day. The carnival will henceforth ba open in the afternoons as well as in the even, ings. The position of the princesses last nightf wore: Association Football (Mrs J. Race) .. .. 1 Ladies’ Hockey (Mrs Nelson) 3 Men’s Hockey (Miss Park) and Cricket (Miss Todd), equal .. .. 3
