(Received Aug. 29, at 5.5 p.m.) According to the latest reports, a total of 10 persons were killed and 300 were wounded in the rioting at various places between the Hindus and the Mohammedans. The hartal, which was observed as a national protest against the Government’s Kenya policy, was almost a complete failure except in the Indian quarters of some of the larger cities.—A. and N.Z.
