PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
MEETING OP COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelly, to Animals was held yesterday afternoon, there being -present Sir George Fenwick (in the chair), Mrs i'ortoous, Miss Porteous. the Revs. W. Saunders, M. Diamond,. Messrs T. r.lliott, S. P. Leith, W. F. Sligo, and J. Brown Inspector Craig wrote expressing his appreciation of tho granting of a bonus, the letter being received. iie also .reported the result of a visit he had made south and mentioned that 10 new members had joined the society.—The report was received. Accounts amounting to £49 were passed for payment. Inspector Craig made a verbal report as to two cases of fast driving, one of tho* two being rather a case of going up hill in too big a hurry. The offender had promised not to repeat tho offence. The only other case mentioned by Inspector. Craig was one in which fowls had been brought to town in too small a box. He said the people sending them thought they wore quite comfortable and had asked him to send the right size for the box. The Chairman asked the Inspector how matters wore generally in the country to which Inspector Craig replied very good indeed.
