The standard cost of living in the United Kingdom in March, 1920, was 130 per cent, in excess of that of July, 1914, and the scheme of / increase agreed by the Whitley Council was as follows ;-rWhere the ordinary rate of remuneration does not exceed 30s per week, 130 per cent, increase. When the ordinary rate of remuneration exceeds 30s per week, but does not exceed £2OO per annum, 130 per cent, on the first 35s per week (£9l 5s per annum), and 60 "per cent, on the excess over £9l ss. . Where the ordinary rate of remuneration exceeds £2OO per ’ annum, 130 per cent, on the first £9l 6s, 60 per cent, on the next £IOB 15s, and 45 per cent, on the amount in excess af £2OO, up to £SOO.
