JEWS IN PALESTINE
NATIONAL HOME POLICY. GERMAN MERCHANTS’ CAMPAIGN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 29. A report dealing with the civil administration of Palestine between July 1, 1920, and December 31, 1921, shows that 7000 immigrants entered the country under the Jewish national home policy, but owing to the dearth of immigration during the war it is doubtful whether the Jewish population is now greater than it was in 1914. A feature of the period has been the great increase in imports from Germany and Austria. This is not merely duo to depreciated currencies and low exchanges, but to the determined efforts of German merchants to get a' footing in Palestine. Their methods have been extended to the issue of catalogues and'price lists in the vernacular. This has considerably im pressed Palestine importers.—Reuter.
