YOUTH WORKERS’ INSTITUTE
Otago Youth Workers’ Institute was continued last evening, when the Rev. E. J. Tipler presided over a large attendance, ■which- was addressed by the Rev. R. Knowles Kempton on “Youth Work Helping to Solve World’s Problems.’ Thg speaker first laid down that the work next one’s hand must first _be attended to, and contimied by _ pointing put that enthusiasm and enterprise, which are both natural attributes of youth, oan find their outlet in coping with such modem problems as alcoholism, mammonism, militarism ; but still, care must be taken, that they do not degenerate into fanaticism. There is at present room for optimism as regards prohibition and militarism, such optimism being justifiable, and, in fact, necessary. Finally, the speaker gave as 'methods of attaining to a solution of these problems, investigation of them, and following high ideals and th e knowledgei gained bv reading Buskin, studying the Bible, and following Jesus Christ,, our Great Leader under Whom is no failure. Mr O. French concluded his talks on “Young Men’s Problems,” and .the Rev. Hector Maclean, who completed the studies in the book of Malaohi, was accorded a vote of thanks for his work. , ~ Mr Macfarlane made the most of ms opportunity in presenting to a large number of Sunday school teachers ftro different types of lessons arranged and illustrated for teaching by methods outlined during his last address. A number of questions were put and answered.
