An officer of the department wa® inquiring as to the suitability of tho_ vessel to be used for that purpose.—Received. , Mr J. Jacobs, secretary Otago Hospital Board, wrote stating that his board 'had decided to join other boards in protesting against the proposal not to pay land agents’ fees to hospital boards. Local authorities should make representations to Parliament with a view to reverting to the system of land agents’ foes being paid to hospital boards. —The Chairman said he personally failed to see the connection between land agents and hospital boards. —Mir Sawle said the foes helped the funds. —Decided to support reversion to former method. Mr M. Geary, and seven others petitioned the board to rescind! a by-law which prohibited motor traffic on portion of the Wicklifle Bay roads, as the creamery had closed down and there was very little traffic on the roads.—The Chairman said these wore the only roads closed to motor traffic in the district.—Resolvedl to open the roads to motor traffic. , In the interests of traffic, Mr J. W. Challis, Anderson’s Bay, wrote asking that Dean street, Cradgleith, he improved.—Members to report. Mr J. Black, Broad Bay, asked the, hoard to givo early attention to improving the rood leading to his property.—Members said it was a road up a mountainside. —Members to inspect the road. Mr A. G. Lewis, Portobello, wrote calling the board’s attention to the unsatisfactory state of tho road leading to his property.— To be, attended to. Members reported on tho work being done in the various subdivisions. In Portobello subdivision, a pipe culvert in Beach road, at Smiths was completed; 35 yards of metal bad been carted out and spread on Cape road, and more metal had been quarried; 31 yards from Harwood quarry had been carted to Inlet road; also general repairing work on Kadk, Beach, and Inlet roads.— Adopted. In Broad Bay subdivision the surfaceman, hod attended to a hole in road at Ridley’s; metal broken on High road; five chains on tho High road had been metalled; a quantity of rotten rock quarried in Seatorm quarry was now being carted out.—Adopted. In North-East Harbour work done hod been mostly on the side roads, with the exception of 20 yards of crusher metal spread on the Beach road at Vauxhall; ahopt 35 yards of rotten rock had been quarried and put on the District road, and 10 yards on Dickson road, WharfdaJo. The Marion street work i was well forward. The bottom of Colinawood street would be attended to.— Adopted.
