SERIOUS MOTOR SMASH. YOUNG MAN KILLED. (Pis Dsttep Press Association.! PALMERSTON N., June 24. Mr Samuel Coombe (farmer), Mr Whitcombe (manager of the Bank of New South Wales), and Mr Frank Lawrence (solicitor), all of Marten, were motoring.on the Great ford-Marton road at 9 o’clock last night, when the oar ran over the wall of the bridge at a dangerous bend in the road. When the party discovered Lawrence he was dead pinned underneath the machine. The in juries of the others are at present not regarded as serious. Mr Lawrence was a single man, and hat been recently admitted to the Bar. WANGANUI. June 24. Mr Lawrence, who was aged 24, had juat passed his solicitor’s examination, and ha/ recently won the cup for the_ champion athlete of the Rangitikei district. His parents reside at Aramoho (Wanganui).

KICKED BY A COW. John Grainger, 65 years of age, an inmate of the Wakari Home, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday, suffering from a fractured thigh, caused bv a cow kicking him. He is progressing favourably. A youth named Alfred Johnson, 17 years of age, met with an accideht yesterday and was admitted to the Hospita late in the afternoon. While working for his employer, Mr Collins (a farmer at Upper Junction;, he fell from the dray he was driving, and one of the wheels passed over his chest. He is progressing favourably. Mrs Agnes M'Farlane, 39 years of age. and resident at Nenthorn, was knocked down by a motor car last night in front of Jackson’s Private Hotel, Princes street, where she was stopping with her daughter.' She was removed to the Hospital, where it was ascertained that her injuries consisted of abrasions to her face and legs. Fortunately, no bones were broken.
