THE WEATHER
(Fkom Oub Own Cobkespondents.) WELLINGTON, March 28. Locally the weather seems to have been out of joint this summer, and now that autumn is here there ia no improvement. Recently the rainfall has been unusually heavy, snd on two nights there have been torrential downpours. The Government meteorologist to-day received the unusual report that at Auckland it was raining out of a blue sky—a very unusual experience in New Zealand, though it ia not rare in some parts of the world. When sailors notice _ this phenomenon they say that the devil is beating hia\ mother-in-law. The phenomenon is, he states, caused by oold current of air passing over a temperate one, and condensing the moisture in the latter when the sky about is quite cloudPALMERSTON, March 28. A great deal of rain fell during last weak, and the season is probably one of the .worst on record for harvesting. A good deal of crop ia still in the stock, and the prospects of Jhreshing this in anything like good condition are very poor. Although finer to-day the weather still seems unsettled.
