Flanagan, Valuer-general, questioned about the report that ho had advised a Ngoroto farmer, James Smith, to tile his bankruptcy, said that Smith was shown cn paper his liabilities, other charges, and the revenue from his property, and saw it was almost impossible to carry on. Mr Flanagan advised him to see the mortgagees. Smith said that they had already declined to give assistance. Mr Flanagan says he gave Smith no advice.
