CLASS OR THE STATE?
THE YES-NO ATTITUDE. BEHOLD THE CONTRADICTION. (Contributed by the New Zealand Welfare League.) Labour men have contended, and the Welfare League agrees, that no City Council should affiliate with the Employers’ Federation, because those who are elected, or appointed, to serve the whole community should not affiliate with any outside class and partisan organisation. Labour men, however, contend, which the Welfare League disagrees with, that officers of the State—such as the Post and Telegraph officers —who are also appointed to serve the whole of the public, should affiliate with an outside class and partisan organisation—namely, the Alliance of Labour. The New Zealand Welfare League asks: Where is the consistency of principle in these particular_ Labour men? Let the citizens think this over.
