GENOA CONFERENCE
EXISTING RUSSIAN DEBTS. BRITAIN’S PROPOSAL. CONSIDERED BY ALLIED EXPERTS. Press Association—By Telograph-T^Oopyright. LONDON, March 21. _ In the House of Commons, at question time, Mr Chamberlain announced that the Genoa Conference would be held on April 19, as arranged. Mr Lloyd George, Lord Curzon, and Sir Robert Horne would represent Great Britain. He added that Mr Lloyd George would return to the House of Commons on April 3, and would take the opinion of the House on the Government’s policy at Genoa. The Government’s motion in regard to this would cleaxly raise the question of confidence, for it was impossible to ask Mr Llovd George to go to Genoa if there was any doubt about his authority. The Pall Mall Gazette states that the Allies’ experts are deliberating regarding the Genoa programme. They have considered the British proposal that the existing Russian debts shall be paid by a new series of bonds to be issued by the Soviet Government, and not bearing interest for the first five years. It instated that there is every reason to believe that the plan will meet with acceptance by Russia. (Received March 22, at 8.20 p.m.] Mr Chamberlain, speaking in the House of Commons, said that Mr Lloyd George will return to London on April 3, when he will immediately take the opinion of the House on the Government’s policy regarding the Genoa Conference. Great Britain’s representatives will be Mr Lloyd George, Lord Curzon, and Sir Robert Home.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
