Tho Electric Power and Lighting Committee will report at the meeting of the City Council on Wednesday night that after a further conference with the shift engineer relative lo tho term of the now working agreement, it has been decided tiiat such term shall be lor a period of one vear. The Whiter Committee will recommend that an offer from Air Donald M’Quilkari to accept the sum ot £ti per acre tor an area of 151 acres of his land at Whuro .Flat, on the umierslanding that £IOOO of the purchase money will not, lie payable by tho council until six months after the date of purchase, tho vendor receiving interest on such sum in the meantime at tho rate of 6i per rent, per aim urn, bo accepted. Tho purchase of tiffs property will enable the council lo prevent, much of the pollution of M’Quilkan’s Creek, the. waters of which it has been found necessary to take in during the summer reason. The Tramways Committee reports Ihat an application from the k’alvatioti Army for a t.rainway pass for Ensign Coombs, probation officer and Samaritan visitation officer among the poor, has been granted on the usual conditions—viz., the payment of £5 by the applicant, which sum, together with a contribution of £5 by the Municipal Department. will bo paid to the Tramways Department.
