SYDENHAM 10 v. DUNEDIN 8. The annual fixture Sydenham (Christchurch) v. Dunedin, which, during the war, was suspended, was revived on Saturday on the G'anabrook Ground, and attracted a good attendance of the public. Being the iirst game of the season, it was not to bo expected that there would bo any play of a high standard, but there were occasional flashes of concerted action among the Dunedin baaks, which went to show that after a, game or two together they will be playing attractive football. Generally speaking, the match was very much a scramble, tfit-re being a considerable amount of fumbling with tlie ball from start to finish. Although defoated, the homo team played better iootball than their opponents. In the first spell they attacked most of the tjmc, but when tho whistle sounded halftime honors were even, neither side having scored. On the resumption of play Mitchell scored for* Dunedin, Scott converting. About halfway through the spell Fitzsimmons scored for Sydenham, and W. Round kieked a goal, thus equalising Dunedin's score. A littlo Later Skene scored Dunedin's second try, but Scott failed to add the major points. Sydenham attaoked with much vigour, and from a scramble on the lino A. E. Smith scored. Round lacked a goal, thus giving the visitors a two-point lead. Dunedin speedily invaded Sydenham's line, and went within an ace of scoring, the latter having to force to relievo the situation. The game c-nded with Dunedin attacking, but with the honours in favour of Sydenham 'by 10 points to 8. Mr Foster controlled the game. PETONE BEATS BULIdiR. (Psk United Punas Association.) WESTPORT, April 3. The football match Petone v. Buller, played on Victoria Square, wa 3 won by the visitors by 14 points to 8. It was the first eamo of the aeasjjn, and both teams showed lack of training. Buller was rather stronger than the visitors in the forwards, but tlu Petone backs wore dangerous when they got going. For Petone tries were scored by ltyan, Griffin, Porckens, and Parnont, Nicholls converting ono try. M'lntyro scored for Buller, bchadick converting, and also kicking a penalty goal.
