(Pee United Press Association.) . . NAPIER, August 24. A hospital patient named Ahern, suffering from an incurable complaint, is missing from the institution. He escaped on Sunday last, and jumped into the sea near the breakwater, but was pulled out by a passer-by. After being sent homo, he was returned to tho hospital, from which he escaped again.
WELLINGTON, August 23. In reply to a question as to the term of ?IV le3^ of T, the Publio Service Commissioner (Mr D. Robertson) and the Assistant Commissioner (Mr A. D. Thomson), tho, Hon. Air Russell said that both these gentlemen had attained the superannuation a.ge and thus, had asked to be relieved of thsir duties by the end of the present year.
