David Hird, a fireman belonging to the s.s. was noticed in tile street by the Collector of Customs yesterday, oarrymg a bulky parcel under his arm The man was stopped, and was found to be in tho possession of uncustomed articles to the value of il which ho was endeavouring to soil. Hird appeared at tho Police Court to-day and was fined £25 (the minimum penalty), m default two months' imprisonment.
