HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE

" ROMANCE." The second performance of Sheldon's fine play "Romance" was given at His Majesty's ..Theatre last night by the J. O. Williamson Company, and a large audience derived, keen enjoyment from what was undoubtedly an exquisite presentation of the story. As the plot progressed the audience watched its absorbing incidents with the closest interest. Miss Kathlene MacDonell, as tho prima donna, Margherita Cavallini, won th© 1 warmest recognition, for her efforts, acting in a manner that gives her many friends ' in Dunedin quite a new perception, of her abilities as a clever and painstaking actress. Mr Charles Waldro'n, as the lover, does all that is required of him in his artistio style, and wins genuine applause. Tho support accorded by the remainder of the cast is adequate, and the costuming, settings, and orchestral music are in keeping with a: performance that has everything to commend it-. The management announces that in response to numerous requests, " Outcast" will be staged next Monday night—the last night of the season. Owing to the enormous business done by " Daddy Long Legs" on the previous visit of the company, only one night could on that occasion be devoted to "Outcast." The repertoire now stands: — To-night, "Romance"; to-morrow, "The Cinderella Man"; Saturday, "Daddy Long Legs"; Monday, "Outcast."
