QUEEN'S AND KING EDWARD THEATRES.

1 — Foremost among a series of good pictures that go to make up the. new programme at the Queen's and King Edward Theatres is " Hie Own People." There is plenty of sentiment, sensation, loyalty, misunderstanding, jealousy, and much that goes to make a story and, to some extent, real life. The prominent figures are a blajcksmith named Hugh O'Donnell and his sweetheart (Molly Conway), ana, in a secondary sense, the son of a wealthy man, who becomes a bit of a nuisance, and who ought to have been got rid of long before he was. "Molly the Mischievous" would describe the girl, and her instincts lead her to play all sorts of pranks and practical jokes on Hugh, the-, blacksmith. Percv owns half the village, and is very " stiff" upon the peasantry ; who poach in a barefaced and unreasonable manner upon his preserves. In fact, ho cannot - " temper justice with mercy," and the outcome of it all is that he becomes cordially, hated. The next one' to enter upon the scens is Lady Mary Thorpe, who > meets and becomes interested in Hugh, tho • blacksmith, simply, because he acts like a ; man, coarse and all as he is. Hugh is i invited to call, and does so; and, unfortui nately for " the course of true lovs running, smooth," Molly overhears and over- - sees. TiMre is nothing in it at all; but i jealousy, pique, and dislike seizes hold of poor Molly, and then tho real trouble I begins. The supporting pictures are the : last episode of that extremely interesting serial " The Double Cross," and a very amusing film in which Charlie Chaplin appears as a fireman.
