Tho beauty star, Olive Thomas, in a fine drama of absorbing interest entitled "An Hciriss for a Day," is the chief attraction hold out to picture lovers at the Octagon lheatrc this week. A beautiful scenic film showing tho abbeys of England is also screened, and special music is played bv an elhcient orchestra. The great scenic and dramatio film "A Modern Lorelei," which heads the bill in the current programme at the Empire Theatre, continues to attract large attendances to that popular house of amusement. In addition to telling an intensely interesting story the picture depicts rugged sea scenes of great beauty and a wonderful exhibition of diving; and swimming by a band of sea nymphs, who display marvellous ability in the natatorial art. Coming to the Empire Theatre on October 4 is the million dollar spectacle "Joan tho Woman, ' featuring Geraldine Farrar. It is 12.000 feet in length, and takes 2£ hours to screen. The story is based upon the world s greatest woman, Joan of Arc. The picture is describsd as gripping and spectacular. Joan was inspired, and Geraldine r arrar brings Joan of Arc back to life. The picture stands pre-eminent in power of story, in the lesson that it teaches for good, in patriotic feeling, and in every thing that pertains to the making of a great spectacle*
