HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Tho monthly meeting of the Otago Hospital and .Charitable Aid Board was held last night Mr W. E. S. Knight (chairman) presided. Tho board passed; a resolution of sympathy with the relatives of tho late Mr W. T. M'Farlane. In reply to a telegram from the board, the Minister of Defence advised that the department was sending to Dunedin practically all the bedding and a certain amount of equipment for the new soldiers' ward, and the rest of the equipment would be purchased, locally. The board was not expected to contribute towards the cost. The Assistant Director of Medical Services wrote stating that Miss Gether had been appointed instructress in wood and leather work to returned soldiers, and would be stationed at Rotorua. Several persons wrote expressing appreciation of treatment of - patients, including soldiers, in the Hospital. The writers were very complimentary in their' remarks to the attention paid to them by both doctors and nurses. The secretary forwarded a list of irrecoverable accounts duo for maintenance in Dunedin, Fever, Kaitangata, and Batchelor Hospitals, amount ; ng to £781 Is 10d—This sum was written off. Mrs Jackson produced a sample of cream supplied to the Hospital on Wednesday, and said the patients and nurses had also complained about the mill;:. —It was decided to appoint someone to take over the milk ever morning. Tha reports of the committees were adopted. Tenders were accepted for the annual supplies to the various institutions, with tne exception of the tender for the supply of milk and cream to the Hospital and nurses' home, which was referred back to the Finance Committee. i
