OTAGO ANGLERS' ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-sixth annual meeting of the Otago Anglers' Association was held last night. There was a goodly muster of members, and the chair was taken by Mr C. S. Jenkins, (vice-president) in the unavoidable absence of Mi- John Black (president). The annual report dealt chiefly with the experiences of anglers on the various rivers during the past season. It mentioned that the Tomahawk Lagoon had again been stocked with two-year-old fish. The cutting off of tho head waters of the Lerth and the Waitati for water supply purposes had largely spoilt these streams for angling. It was anticipated that angling at Pomahaka would be later this year. The \V'aipahi was looking better than it had done lor some years, and was practically clear of weeds. Fishing in the vicinity of Cromwell was improving. Shags had proved troublesome on the Lee Stream. The report was adopted. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £17 19s Bd. The election of new members was followed by the appointment of the following officebearers: —President, Mr J. Hutchison; vicepresidents—Messrs C. S. Jenkins, J. S. Brownlie, W. I? inlay son, D. M'Lennan, and J. Hiddleston; secretary, Mr A. E.Jenkins; treasurer, Mr W. Finlayson; auditor, Mr O. A. Wilson; committee—Messrs J. Barnes, L. De Beer, A. Spears, J. Burt, W. A. Mackay, G. Frame, L. Whelham, A. Dobson, W. Morgan, and J. A. Rice. Mr 3. Black's name was added to the list of patrons. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Pattison, ,that, members of the association at the front be written to, wishing them a safe return. On the motion of Mr H. G. Williams, it was decided to recommend the committee to hold the competition on the Waikouaiti River on November 16, so as to avoid it taking plucc, at full moon; also, that tho competition at Tomahawk Lagoon be between the hours of 3 and 10 o'clock, and that a da.te be selected when there was no moon. Mr A. E. Jenkins mentioned that an expresident, in the person of Mr R. Forrest, was unfortunately laid aside through illness, and he suggested that sympathy be expressed with him.—The suggestion was agreed to, two members being deputed to convey the feeling of the association to Mr Forrest. —- Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the secretary (Mr A. E. Jenkins), the treasurer (Mr W. Finlayson), and the press, after which a_ couple of hours were spent in social intercourse, several musical items being rendered.
