PORT CHALMERS OLD IDENTITIES' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. 7 lie Port Chalmers Old Identities held their sixth annual mooting in tho Town Ilall last evening. The president (Mr D. A. De Maus) occupied the chair. Visitors from Waikouaiti wero present. Tlio annual report recalled that tho first meeting was hold on August 27, 1913, there being 16 members present, of whom Mr ami Mrs J. R. Monson, Mrs G. L. Asher, and Mr W. Sutton had since passed away. Messrs Leek and Fail canvassed the town for members so successfully that in 1914 150 were on tho roll, which now contained about 250 names. Features of the association's work had been tho reading of tho reminiscences of old settlers, and the collection of photographs of interest to old identities. The last annual picnic had been a great social success, but not so satisfactory from a financial standpoint. There was a credit balance of £21 19s sd. During tho year the following members of the association has passed away :—Mesdames Matilda Asher, ,J. T. Dale, Matilda Ritchie, Bosire, K. Sinclair, S. M'Kay, E. Asher, and Messrs D. Burt, W. Shadforth, J. Hill, D. Carey, Alex. M'Kenzie, James Fairley, J. Tresider, and A. Main. The report and balance sheet were adopted. It was resolved that in future three of the quarterly meetings bo open tr> members and the public, the annual meeting to bo attended by members only. The association has received portraits of tho late Mre Matilda Ritchie, Messrs W. Pedlow, A. .T. Ritchie, and James Fairley. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Mr J. M'Lachlan; vice-presi-dents—Messrs D. M. Mawson, I. Isbister, W. Love, sen., and Mr J. MacD. Stevenson; Ladies' Committee—Mesdames Basire, Thomson, Love, and J.. .;-s Pickaxd; Men's Committee—Messrs J. Pickard, J. Harland, J. Jackson, J. Osborne, J. M'Gregor, J. Hampseed, and W. Jones; secretary, Mr A. Leek; assistant secretary, Mr George L. Asher; treasurer, Mr E. Knewstubb; "auditor, Mr W. G. Fail. The association badge was presented to Mr G. L. Asher, a past president, by Mr De Maus. A capital programme of musical items was presented, the vocalists being Miss Paton, Mr and Mrs Howden, Messrs Cook, D. A. Do Maus, and Lance-corporal Newall. Miss M'Kenzie played a violin solo, Mrs Brown , gave a recitation, and Mr D. M'Donald danced tho sailors' hornpipe.
