JAPANESE MAIL STEAMER

(Received June 24, at 5.5 p.m.) Referring to the reported loss of a Japanese mail steamer, the Secretary of the Postal Department states that he has been officially informed that the vessel was not wrecked, and that all the mails were landed. Fire at Bund&berg destroyed the Bunda'berg Hardware Company's store and an adjoining building. The damage is estimated at £15,000.
