PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION
Tho fourth annual meeting of the Otago section of the New Zealand Public Service Association was held in the Land Board room on Monday evening, Mr J. Miller presiding. The attendance was" small. Ihe report and balance sheet were adopted as read. The balance sheet showed a credit of £17 4s sd.
The Chairman, in his remarks, regretted tho small attendance, and oommented on the danger of allowing matters to drift Tho committee wanted members to come along to these meetings and givo their opinions.
Several matters were discussed, including superannuation, the cost of living, and the constitution of the Appeal Board.
Tho electxm of officers resulted as. follows:—Committee—J. Miller and IT. B. Reid (justice and machinery), J. Murray (st'imps). F. Oxford and F. G. Haigh (customs), R. T. Sodd and A. J. Morrison (lands and survey), W. E. Gladstone (registrar and pensions),T. R. Gruszning..(State fire). A. E. Rowd'en and W. T. Goodwin (agriculture). L. B. Browctt (labour), C. R. Andrews (valuation and tourist). Mr J. D. Hay was re-elected secretary and treasurer, and Mr J. Georgoson assistant secretary. The election of tho poKco delegates was left over in the meantime. It was stated that 106 members had enlisted, over 50 coming from the mental hospitals section alone. Of theeo 14 : havo been killed in action, and 12 have been wounded, some of the latter, being now book in the firing lines.
A motion of condolence with the relatives of those who had fallen was carried in silpTice. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
