WAR ANNIVERSARY
PATRIOTIC RESOLUTIONS. (From Oub Own Cokeespondent.) OUTRAM, August 5. The celebration of tho second anniversary of tho declarator! of war -was hold in tlic Uddlellows' liall on Friday evening, when thero was a good, attendance, a pleasing feature being the number oi young Jada present. 'ino Rev. Mr Spenco ptes.ded. Tho meeting was opened by tho bulging ot toe National Anthem. Tho Chairman gave a very fine address, at the close ot which Mr Harrison moved tho resolution circulated by the Prune Minister lor the occasion, which was seconded by Mr John Grant, and carried unanimously. Two other patriotic resolutions wero also carried unanimously, and the meeting was brought to a close by the singing of tne National Anthem and the pronouncing of tho benediction. ALEXANDRA, August 4. A meeting held to-day passed the usual patriotic resolutions as requested by Mr Massey, expressive of determination to continue to a victorious issue the struggle for the ideals of liberty and justice. ROXBURGH, August 5. A patriotic meeting was held hero on Friday evening for the purpose of submitting the resolution bearing upon tho prosecution of tho war. The Mayor presided, and associated with him on the platform were members of the Patriotic Committee, Mr J. Bennett (county chairman), and tho liovs. Gunn and Klcu.se. Tho resolution was moved by the Mayor and seconded by Mr Bennetts. Revs. Gunn. ykusc, and Mr Williamson gave short addresses in support of tho motion, and on being- put to tho meeting it was carried with en thusiasm. Belore tho meeting opened tlio band contributed stirring music, and tho various addresses wero interspersed vith songs by Miss Sullivan, Messrs Bennett and Gilchrist. MILTON, August 5. A public meeting was held m the Bruce County Chambers on Friday. Mr T. 11. Russell (chairman of the County Council) presided. The resolution was proposed by Mr Donald Reid, who delivered "a stirrin» address, characterised by Impcriahhtic spirit. The motion was seconded .by lhe Mayor (Mr Chas. King), and earned unanimously. The proceedings terminated with tho singing of tlio National Anthem.
