OTAGO EXPANSION LEAGUE
The monthly meeting of the execwtivb of the Otago Expansion League was held in tho secretary's office, Stock Exchange buildings, on Wednesday evening. Mr Crosby Morris occupied the chair. The question of petitioning the Right Hon. Mr Maesey to reserve for closer settlement an area of 1400 acres of tho Galloway run was referred to the Country Developm§ni Committee to report, if necessary, to a speoial meeting of the executive. Messrs A. Moritzson and J. Inglis Wright reported having attended a special meeting of the City Council's Tramways Committee on the subject of acquiring the land adjoining the Occan Drive, at the corner of Forbury road.—Noted; the delegates to be thanked for their attention.
Mr Mark Cohen wrote agreeing to attend a meeting of representatives of the Dunedin Citizens' Garden Fete Society, the Amenities and Town Planning Society, and the League, and to address them on the question of introducing legislation along the lines of tho English Watering Places and Health Resorts Act. —Secretary to consult with the president and to arrange for a meeting. Two recommendations from the Publicity Committee regarding tho members' monthly luncheons were adopted, and the secretary was instructed to advertise the next monthly luncheon to bo held on the 14th inst., when Dr P. Marshall will give an after-dinner talk on the undeveloped mineral resources of Otago. The Town Clerk wrote stating that it had been agreed by the Tramways Committee to adopt tho suggestion of the league and issue a tourist concession ticket available for a return iourney over all the tramway routes controlled by tho council for 2s. —Secretary to write thankihg the committee for falling in with the suggestion. Tho Town Clerk, Dunedin, wrote stating that in regard to the matter brought before the council by deputation from the league and other societies, the council had resolved that in the meantime no steps be _ taken other than to fill all future vacancies on the Domain Board by the appointment of members of the council only. —Received. A number of other matters were dealt with.
