PROPOSED SALE OF A BALE OF WOOL. The chairman of the Public Appeal Committee of tlio Otago Patriotic and General Wolf aro Association hits issued a circular iri tho following terms to tlio sheep farmers of Otago and Southland * '■ With tlio concurrenco of tho chairman of tlio Wool Buyers' of Now Zealand, whoso members will assist in the movomuit, it has been decided to offer by public auction at the sooond wool salo to be held in fJuncdin on 19th January, 1916, one baie of wool, the proceeds of winch aro to be applied to the relief of our distressed •xnd poverty-stricken Allies in Serbia. " The wool has been presented to the above association, .'ind the conditions of iiale are that no buyer shall take delivery of liis purchase, but re-dunate tame, so that it may bo submitted again and again, so long us there is a bidder for it. Finally it will be sold in tho usual way for tho benefit of the fund. It is hoped that by this method some thousands of pounds will bo raised lor the Serbians. " The bravo and gallant army of this country, -which at present is occupied by our enemies is fighting with the armies of Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and Belgium, not only in the cause of freedom and civilisation, but also for our \ery_ existence. It is therefore tho duty and privilege of everyone in proportion to his means to help the Serbians. " Owing to the fact that the fabulous returns that "wool growers are obtaining for their clips this season aro entirely duo to tho war, it is felt, that the wool producers of Otago and Southland ;will bo pleased to be afforded the opportunity of contributing out of thoir extra profits to this Relief Fund. It is hoped that every wool grower who is able to attend the salo will do so, and assist tho project, and if_ it is not possiblo for somo to bo present, it is suggested that such should remit to the undersigned whatever sum they wish to tfive, **} order that it may be included in tho grand total for tho day. . "Recently in another centre a bale of wool similarly presented realised over £3000. It i would bo a magnificent achievement if cur ' peoplo who have benefited by the .war could j beat that record."
