CRICKET
Y.M.C.A. CLUB. The Y.M-C.A. Club held its first annual meeting on Tuesday. Mr Hughes presided, an i there was a good attendance. The annual report stated that 13 matches were played last season, and six -victories were scored. The playing strength ot the club steadily increased as the season pro gre&scd. Chalmers (the captain) secured the bowling average, with a record of 4.4 runs per wicket, and was also a tower of strength in the batting. Chalmers's bowling average -was run exceedingly close by Jones, with 4.5. L. Grigg led in the ba+ting figures, Chalmers being next. The attendances at practice were good for the grtaur part of the season. The report was adopted. The financial statement showed a sma'l debit balance on the year's play. The following officers were electcd for the season: —President, Mr P. R. Sargood; vice-presidents—the Primate, Dr Charles Nortn, Mr W. Downie Stewart and Mr J. A. Johnson; captain,/Mr F. A. Thomson; hon. secretary, Mr W. F. Stock; hon. treasurer, Mr J. B. Thomson; committeeMessrs G. \V. Hughes, A. Logan. H. Manson, W. Pacey, and George Jones. It was decided to again apply for the use of the Gardens Reserve as the playing field of the club. TAIERI AND PENINSULA. The reDort of the Taieri and Peninsula Cricket Club states that last season the membership was so large that it was found necessary to enter two teams for the Wednesday competition. The A team was composed of members of the firm, and finished fourth in the competition. The B team (strengthened by some outside members) were runners-up to the Grocers, and were the only team undefeated by the premiers. Their record read: Played 10, won 6, lost 2, drawn 2. The A team's record was: Played 9, won 4, lost 4, drawn 1. Mr W. Bolt's trophy was won by N. M'Farlane, with an average of 24.1 for 193 runs. Mr I. Green's trophv was won by C. M'Kenzie, with an average of 9.1 for 28 wickets. Mr J. Beet is giving a trophy of a rug for the keenest player in either team. The club has a cash balance of £1 8s 9d. The club has a good stock of material on hand, and looks forward to another successful season. Several of the members have gone with the Expeditionary Force. At the start of the season it was foundl necessary to secure a practice wicket, and the Grange Club came forward with a sporting offer for the use of its pavilion and practice wicket.
