OTAGO ROWING ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL REPORT. The season was opened in October with the usual official opening function and procession of boats of tho various clubs. Ino Port Chalmers regatta was held, as usual, on Boxing Day, and proved a very succossful regatta in many ways. The association's annual regatta was held on March 23. The committee decided, with a view to increasing tho interest in the regatta, to row pair and scull raccs with a turn in the course, thus allowing the public to witness both tho start and finish of the races. This, from a spectator's point of view, proved a decided improvement, and added considerably to the interest in tho racing. The attendance of the public was again very disappointing, and, had it not been for the valuable services of Messrs S. G. Styche and W. J. Wilson in obtaining donations, the regatta would have resulted in considerable loss. The annual mtcrprovincial race between Otago ai)d Southland was rowed' at Invercargill, and resultod in a win for tho Southland crew. The Oa.ma.ru crew was selected to represent Otago for this race. Tho Queenstown regatta again proved a great attraction, and tho annual Easter regatta was a most succossful one. The various challenge trophies have been won as follows: Maiden Cup—Port Chalmers Rowing Club, six points; Junior Cup— North-End Boating Club, 15 points; Senior Cup—Otago, 15 points; Premiership Shiold —Otago, 40 points. The season was commenced with a credit balance of £37 17s, and tho balance sheet now submitted shows a credit balance of £18 5s Bd. Something requires to be done immediately to raise funds to' put tho association in a stronger financial position, and tho incoming committee will require to take immediate steps to raise funds.
