(Per United Pbgss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 28. The case against James Henry Bean, charged with perjury, was continued at the Supreme Court to-day. The jury, after a retirement of a little over two hours, returned a verdict of "not guilty." INVERCABGILL, August 28. At the Supreme Court to-day _ fiva Natives were charged with assaulting a Maori girl under 16. They were admitted to probation for 12 months, and ordered to pay costs. The Crown. Prosecutor stated that nothing was previously known against the accused, and that the girl was largely to blame.
