BOWLING
DUNEDIN CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Uuncdin Bowling O.ub was held.last evening, 'lhere was a good attendance, some OU members being present, and -Mr \v\ (J. Buu, pre lderit, wuo in the chair.
In his' opening remarks Mr Burt congratulated the club on a very suceesslul season. He made reference tb_ several deaths that had occurred among tne members during tne pact year. Tne law Mr iMark Sinclair was, ne said/ one of tlic oldest members Of tno club and one of its best workers. The late Mr 0. S. Reeves, a lite member, had belonged to the club ever since its foundation, auu the late Mrl Henry Guthrie had rendered the'club much service. Speaking'of the matches played during the seaauu he stated that although fclie club had not bten successful in obtaining a large number of \v:ns in the interolub games it had supplied tho New Zealand Bowling Association ciismpion in Mr Bentley and tno Dunedin (k-uro champion in Mr k Harraway. The play of these two members iiad done honour to themselves and also to the club. Referring to the Commercial Travellers' match he said this fixture was always looked forward to with Jhe greatest pleasure, and the Junction of the past season had been even more successful than those of preceding years. Mr Burt spoke of the excellent work done by the Ladies' Committct during the year. Their good offices Saturday try Saturday were very much appreciated, and went a long way .to make the Saturday games as enjoy, able ,16 they were.. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted, the mover being the chairman, and the seconder Mr Bentley. Messrs Rennie, Hogg, and J. E. White were among the speakers, and special reference was made to the harmonious spirit that existed iu the club and to the enjoyable, nature of tho club games during the season.
Six members were nominated for the posiof directors, and on a ballot being taken the following were elected; Messrs W. A. Scott, John White,, F. Peako, W. M. Hogg.
The election of office-bearers lor the ensuing season resulted-as follows;— President, Mr W. A. Scott; vice-president, Mr W. M. Emery; auditor, Mr James Brown; delegates to Dunedin Centra—Messrs' Konu.e, Hogg, and Mercer.
A long discussion took place in reference to the Match Committee, and after a ballot Lad been taken it was decided that two selectors bo appointed lor tho season, motions in favour of one elector and three selectors being defeated. Messrs W. M'Laren and Wm. Hogg were appointed lor the Saturday games, and Messrs J. C. Short and H, C. foster fox the Wednesday games.
In regard to the Saturday interclub games M<- vv. m. Hogg explained fully tho various schemes propounded by Messrs Balk, Allnuit, and M'Kimion, and it was unanimous.,* decided that the schemes be considered by the directors and that the delegates act on their instructions.
A voto of thanks, to Mr P. Walker for past services as a director was carried unanimously.
Mr Burt afterwards vacated the eiiair and Mr Scott returned thanks for his election as president. He made reference' to tho friendly feeling'that existed in the club among the members, and trusted that he would havo the assistance of the directors and that the club would have a prosperous year.
The prizes were then presented to the various competitors who had been successful in tho club games A special feature was the presentation of a billiard cue to the veteran, Mr Thomas Morris, as a mark of esteem from his brother members. Mr Morris feelingly replied. A trophy for colts' pnze for next season was promised by Mr H. C. Foster.
The usual votes of thanks were passed at the close of the meeting, including the outgoing president,, the ladies, and the press. Iho motion to the retiring president- was moved by Mr J. E. White, who said that xVIr Burt was not behind tho many worthv occupants of the chair in previous seasons."
