THE SEATOUN FATALITY.
VERDICT 01? ACCIDENTAL DEATH,
(Pee Ukited Pbe3s Association.) WELLINGTON, March 7. The inquest concerning tho deaths of William Ham, Ellen Ham, and Sydney Ham, victims of the drowning fatality at Sea to tin., was held to-day. Captain, Cameron, master of the Pateena, stated that when the steamer was leaving Wellington on February 28 he saw a capsized boat near' Pinnacle Rocks. A boat in charge .of the second officer was sent' to the scene, and picked up a man in an exhausted condition.' They were informed that .three others had been drowned. i William Potter, the rescued man, stated that he went fishing in a small boat, in company ■with Mr and Mrs Ham and their child. Whilst the anchor was being pulled up witness heard a scream, and wie_ boat immediately capsized.' * Ham and witness tried to right the boat and rescue Mrs Ham.(who had the child in her arms), but were unsuccessful.
A verdict of " Accidental drowning " was returned. . " . .
