LIGHTING THE COAST.

TEE THREE KINGS. ' (Pee United Peess-Association.) • AUCKLAND, March 7. '■ After a personal inspection of the Three Kings, Mr Allport, Secretary of the Marine Department, reports that he cruised all round the islands in a launch, and his definite conclusion was that it was not feasible .to place any kind of warning device on the Western King. A first class 'light should be placed on the Big King. He believed that it would be most suitable on; the south-west side of the, island tat a height of about 300 ft. An automatic fog signal -was also required. The Hon. Mr Fisher states that the negotiations have been opened with the Federal Government, with a view of obtaining contributions towards the cost.

Mr Allport static that a light will soon be required on the North : Cape. There is a splendid site available on an island just off the cape, at a. height of 100 ft.
