IMPERIAL DEFENCE

THE NATAL PROBLEM.

Prws Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, November 3. It is' expected that .Sir Churchill, in tho event of his accepting the Canadian Government's invitation, will visit Vancouver and Esquimalt, and that whilo thero the opportunity will be taken to hold a naval conference, to which representatives from Australia and New Zealand will be invited to discuss the coordination of the various units for Pacific defence. Naval circles hope that this intention will prepare the way for more frequent naval consultations, and also advance Mr Fisher's desire for conferences at shorter intervals. The Admiralty denies the reported Portsmouth mobilisation, and assorts that it is merely an experimental tost for flotillas in coaling and provisioning.
