TREACHEROUS NATIVES
CONSPIRACY TO MURDER

SYDNEY, September 5.
The steamer Coblcnz reports that the New Guinea natives recently plotted to massacre the whole white imputation nt Eriedrich Wilhelmshafcn, in revenge for tltc punishment of several natives who murdered a white resident.
The conspiracy leaked out, and the ringleaders were arrested with the assistance of the- native police, who proved loyal. The rank and lilc then lost confidence, and abandoned the plot. The Coblenr. conveyed 16 conspirators to Rabaul, where they were sentenced to various terms of hard labour.
