SYDNEY, September 5. Many of (he recent robberies in Sydney are attributed to American criminals.
At the trial of an American youth, who was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for snatching a bag containing £20. » cutting from an American newspaper wns read indicating that the accused had been convicted of sticking up a saloon in California, and that the judge had imposed only a probationary sentence of live years, conditional on the term being spent with an alleged uncle in Australia.
The Crown Prosecutor said that American judges had a delightful way for some lime past of sentencing their criminals to probation, or, rather, of sending them out of the country, and apparently they were being sent to Australia.
