ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
: (Pis. Ukimd Press Association.) WAIHI, August 30. Alfred Palmer, 21 years of age, was discovered this morning in his hut with his head.partly blown away by a discharged bullet from a rifle lying beside him. The position of tho body and rifle pointed to suicide. .;.'. TIMARU, August 50. At the inquest on the man killed on the railway at Pleasant Point there was no evidence of identification, and the inquest was adjourned. The body was subsequently identified as that of Bernard Jones, a pupil teacher in Timaru, who was spending a holiday on a farm near the scene of the tragedy. Jones had been suffering from influenza. He was 18 years of age, and a bright youth, who won, four " special mentions" in the teachers' examination. A- lady named Julia - Manney was knocked down by a, horseman in the vicinity of Caversham last night. She sustained some injuries to her head, and was taken in an unconscious condition to the Hospital, where she now lies.
