KAITUNA. LAWN TENNIS CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Kaituna Lawi? Tennis Club was held 1 last evening in the Palace Hotel. There wa6 an attendance of 16.members, Mr J. Waters presiding. The annual report , [already published) and balance sheet (showing a bank balance of £73 odd) were presented'. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the Chairman apologised for the absence of the president (Mr C. J. Payne). Ho congratulated the club upon the healthy state of the finances. He doubted whether they had ever had such a prosperous year as the present, which closed with the credit balance, of '£73 odd. The members were to bo congratulated also upon the success achieved, in the competitions, the A team having won the championship for the second year in succession. The B team's " temporary lapse of form " was regrettable. Members were aware that a fivo years' lease had Iven secured from the bowlere. He was of opinion that more favourable terms should have been granted, but there seemed no likelihood of securing anything better than the terms that had been obtained. *
Mr M*DougaU seconded the motion, which was carried.
The election of bffioe-bearera resulted as follows:—President, Mr J. Wnters; vicepresident, Dr Stephenson; secretary, Mr J. S. Nicolson; treasurer, Mr R. Wilkic; auditor, Mr T. S. Tomlinson; committee -Misses F. Campbell, F. Laing, E. Wood, Messrs G. F. Mirams, W. Fisher, W. Armour, T. S. Tomlinson; delegates to Otago Lawn Tennis .Association—Messrs VV. Armour and T. S. Tomlinson.
Mr Tomljnson moved—"That rule 12 be altered to road; 'The subscription for men shall be £1 5s per annum, and for ladies 12s 6d per annum.' "—Mr Nicolson moved an amendment to.the effect that the subscriptions be £1 7s for men and 14s 6d for ladies for the ensuing year only; thus facilitating the collectin of the 2s levy imposed by the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, the amount of 2s to be remitted to any member who, being attached to another club, has already paid the levy to the other club.—Tho amendment was carried.
It was also resolved to grant the Use of lockers at a fee of 2s 6d, instead of 5s per annum.
Mr Nicolson explained the position with regard to tho purchase of the ground at Anderson's Bay, and urged the members to take up debentures. The prevailing sentiment was approval of the association's action in purchasing the ground. The Chairman made reference to the departure of Mr C. R. Smith, who had been ono of the most usoful and most respected members of the club, of which he had bean in a sense the G.O.M. Upon the chairman's motion it was resolved to record in tho minute regret at»Mr Smith's departure and appreciation of hie services to the club, the terms of the resolution to be conveyed to Mr Smith by tlie secretary.
