(Pir United Psess Association.) WA>,GANUI, December 15, A fire broke out last, night, in a shop in the Avenue occupied by Mr Clarkeon, cyclo dealer. Tiie building was suited, but the slock of bicycles was saved. Tho up(stairs portion of the Freezing - Company's retail shop adjoining was aho destroyed. The insurances arc una.vnilable, owing to the owner's absence from town.

NAPIER, December 14. . A fire was discovered in the. laundry of tho Hoys' High .School early this morning, but the prompt nttemliuice of the brigade prevented the flames from spreading to tho main building. The laundry was insured in the Norwich Union f#r £iSO. About £100 worth of linen was destroyed.

Two hours later the brigade was called out. again to a fire in tho Marist Brothers' School, an old wooden structure. The flames had obtained the mastery, am} the building' was gntlcd in a very short time. Tho insurance is £700 on the school and £50 on Ihe fittings, both in. the Atlas. Incendiarism is suspectcd iti both eases.

The insurances on property destroyed' in the fire at North-JJast Valley on Friday night were:—On tho property of j\le£srs lilissard and M'Vicar, sash and iloor manufacturers, £100 in llio GuArcfian office; on the property of the Union Hat Company in the samo building. £300 in the Standard office. ' The building and machinery wcro insured for £155 and £40 respectively.
