A CONSTABLE STABBED.

(Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ December 14. On Saturday afternoon Constable Connor was stabbed in the abdomen by William Waugh, a well-known farmer, of Stoney Creek, when the officer was arresting him on a charge of drunkenness. Waugh is 72 years of age. The weapon used was a pruning knife, and tlie wound is a serious one. Connor l)chave<l pluckily, and with the assistance of a bystander got Waugh into a cab before giving way. Medical assistance was called, and Connor was conv>.yod to the hospital. He is progressing satisfactorily.
