BAY TOWN BOARD
A meeting ot the Bay Town Board was held last evening, and was attended by Messrs J. Macfl regor (in the chair), T. Somerville, J. Wither. J!. J. Barrett, D. M'Curdy, and T. Pryor.
The l'ortobellc Koad Board wrote drawing attention to the arrangements made (or repairing the Portobello "Scac'li road by the Bay 1 own Board, and requesting that the road bo put in order at once.—The matter to receive attention.
Mr Matthew Begg forwarded -plans and cross-eeetions for re-grading a portion of the Main road in front of Messrs Evan?, Harlnnd, 'Walker, and Begg Bros', properties, and it was agreed that consideration be deferred in the meantime.
Mrs M. J. Nicholson wrote drawing tho board's attention to the culvert ill Bothwell street. Grant Braes, and asked the board to make arrangements io have this culvert altered so that the water might be diverted from her land.—Surfaceman instructed to inspect and report at next meeting, Mr M'Curdy reuorted on channelling and kerbing on the Main road, and after considerable discussion it was agreed that tenders be called for asphalting Silverton and Cranston fides of tho Main road whoro the channelling was complete, and a committee, consisting of Messrs Wither, M'Ctmly, and Pryor was appointed to confer with Mr Begg in drawing up specifications,
Mr Barrett gave notice o! the followuig motions for next meeting ;t (1) That the rates for tho current your bo 2<l in tlio pound; (2) that tho-motion of April 8 to ercct a flood-gate rvntl piping (tliice chains) at Cranpton l:o rescinded."
The clerk was asked to wait upon tho Dunedin Cily Corporation iramway3 manager and inform him that a complaint had been made to the board in refcrenco to a car not running to the terminus 011 Saturday night. In reference to Weir's Toad through section !>. block I, it was »<>Teed' to inform Mr M. that the board would be prepared to apply to tho Mini«W for tho Governor's sanction to the roiul bring taken over at it* present width of 06ft on the understanding thot the owners formed and metalled tho road \o the "f Iho boar,!. It was resolved—(lj Tlnit tenders be railed for wiling for 12 months; (2) that ihe appointment of xnnger b? left fn th? hands of Messrs M'Curdy and Wither; (.1) that the necessary steps be t?ken to get trees reduced so as not to shade the Toad at various plnccs in the district.
