A GOLDEN WEDDING

'lima was a unique and happy gathering on Jfonday afternoon last at " Ngutukaka," Port Chalmers, the 'home of Mr and Mts J. ]{. Monson, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding day.. The company comprised Mr and Mrs Monson, Miss Monson, Miss Alice Monson, Jlt Charles Monson (Roxburgh), Mr and Mrs Fred Monson (Mornington) with their family, the Misses Myrtle and Constance and Master Harold, Mr and Mrs Robert Monson (Oauiani) with, their family. Miss Irene and Mt Bernard. Mr and Mrs George Monson (Burnside) -with their iamily, Miss Olive and Masters Georje and Nigel; :ndeed, every member fof tho family was present with the exception of Miss E. Monson, who is residing in Sydney. In addition, the following friends wore present: —Mesdaaies Tayler, Mallard. Basire ; Duke, Ward, Mr C. Duke, and tlie Rev. 3. Ward. A short thanksgiving service M*as held in the drawing-room, conducted by Mr Ward. At this the marriage hymn was sung, led by Miss Myrtle, Miss Constance presiding at the piano. Afterwards refreshments were served, amidst the recital of many pleasant experiences, as 14 years have elapsed sine* the last family reunion.' A photograph was taken by Mr Fred of Mr and Mts Monson, with Mrs John Taylor, who, as Miss J. Carey, wis Mis Monson's bridesmaid 50 years ago. During tho afternoon the original marriage register, containing the entry of the marriage, and a

piece of thebridalvoil worn Dy Mrs Monson were shown, and-excited much interest. A number of valuable presents were made to the honoured couple by members of the family and friends. These were exhibited, also some of the. presents made to them 5» years ago. It was a bright gathering, unaffected bv the"heavy rain that fell during the 'afternoon, and will hi a rich memory to all. privileged to be piesent. Mr and Mrs Monson are going down the hill of life in sunshine, with the respect and lovo of all who know them. Few have ken more favoured ■than they, and low moro worthy.
