PROTECTION AGAINST NEW ZEALAND. Pres3 Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. ' BRISBANE, June 11. A deputation waited 011 Jlr Reid, the Federal Premier, and asked for an increased duty on Xeiv Zealand pine, and stated that 30,000 men were engaged in the timber industry in Queensland. Without an increased duty a great majority would loso their means of livelihood. Sir Reid promised that if a written statement, was submitted lie would place it before the Cabinet.
