Mr Reid, tho Federal Premier, addressed a large meeting and fulfilled the recentlyexpressed desire of tho Socialist Association by delivering a strongly anti-Socialistic speech. -Ho characterised the white ocean and contract-clauses of the l'ostal and Navigation Acts as blots on tho Statute Book and the extremes of absurd and ridiculous nonsense. Ho recognised tlio national importance of the sugar industry, and the serious responsibility involved in the deportation of kanakas. The questions of the sugar bonus and deportation would be dealt with by the Treasurer when he delivered bis Budget next month.
