A RACEBOOK COPYRIGHT CASE. WELLINGTON, April J. The nonsuit point in the case arising out of fliti alleged imitation of oflicial race cards for tho Wellington Racing Club's summer mooting was decided by Dr Jt'Arthur, S.M., this morning in favour ot plaintilis. Tlie proceedings were instituted hy Cookslev and Harris against Johnson and Sons for recovery of £100. Counsel for the defence lnwl askerl for a lionsuit, and, in doing so, alleged that defendants lir.tl produced their hook as the result of independent work. ,110 contended that it had been from'plaintiff's cuso that it wa3 possible vC produce work njmilar to that of tho plainl-ifi'ii and of fair accuracy, and that, therefore, there was no copyright in plaintiff's book. His WorE'hip upheld: the contention of Mr Bell (for the plaintiffs) that a prima, facie case of infringement had been made out, and required an answer from defendants. The application was therefore dismissed, art:! the easo adjourned until Thursday for further hearing.
AMATEUR BOXING ASSOCIATION. . A meeting for the formation of a centre in Duneilin of tho New Zealand Amateur Boxing Association was held last evening. Sir T. E. Hobsun (a representative of the association, Christ-church) reported that he had waited on a number of prominent gentlemen in Dunedin since his arrival lust Saturday, and they luid informed him they would assist in tho formation of a centre under tho Amateur Asseoiiir lion. It was decided to adjourn the meeting till Thursday night, April 11. Mr M'lntosh was euioted secretary pro tem, with it recommendation to wait ou a number of gentlemen and request, their attendance at this meeting. A most hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Txobson for his cfi'orls in tlie direction of forming a. centre. HAltlUEllS. The. St. Andrew Ilaiiiers will run. from St. Clair to-day (Wednesday), when a large attendance! of both old and young members is expected. Team leaves i'ost Office at 2.30 p.m. sharp.
