'(Per United Pre3s Association.) ; WELLINGTON,' February 4, . ■At tho Supreme Court John Kilmartin, ehargod with the manslaughter of Michael Foley, was acquitted, a verdict of not guilty being returned. Accused and Foley had boon drinking together, and quarrelled. In the struggle that followed Foley fell, and died ifrom the effects.
February 5. .At the Supremo Court yesterday John Savage, charged with attempting to set fire to tho Empire Hotel, Masterton, was found not guilty. Hugh Anstin,. aged 19 years, wa.s charged on several counts with sup: plying and attempting to supply certain chemicals to a-woman with unlawful intent at Wellington last August, A verdict of guiltv- was returned, with a strong recommendation to mercy on account of tho prisoner's youth and ignoranco as to tho possible consequenccs of his action. Cortain law points raised by Mr A. L. Herdman, counsel for accused, were roservod for argument before the Court, of Appeal, Austin l>eing admitted to bail in the meantime. To-morrow morning the trial will l>o commenced of tho charge cf murder against M'Konzie, alias Ellis.
