o By last night's mail further entries came down from the morth which had missed Saturday's train, and the total number of entries now is somewhere about 50. Wit II the late entries, Obristchurch will have a very strong team, and the Dimedin men will have to be in thoir bast form if they are to keep the Challenge Shield (now on view at Jdcobe'e, tobacconist) in Dunedin for the present year. Included in the northern team is W. F. Simpson, the champion distance runner, and tho Mile aad Three-mile races will be well worth a visit to Carisbrook to see, for, in company with him, will be the Timaru champion—W. F. Flowell™ —and our oivn champion—Hector Burk. Burlt is in good form just now, and, considering the good time ho put up at the D.A.A.C. sports, ho should go very near to bo this year's champion. Milk lias lieen hard at work proparing tho track, amd by next Saturday he will have the Carisbrook Grotuid in tip-top condition. If this fine weather should keep up, there is sure to be a laTge gathering at the grouuds, for tho athletic men and the general public are taking great interest in this meeting, as it is some four or fivo years since the last championships were held hero. The Otago Centre, under whoso direction this meeting is being run, have all details well in hand, and at Wednesday's meeting will make all final arrangements. A Wellington telegram pta.fces that L. S. Webster, tho 220 yds and 440 yds champion runner, left for Dunedin last night to represent Wellington at the Championship meeting.
