"RATEPAYER" AND THE DRAINAGE BOARD.
TO THE KDirOK. Sir,—" Ratepayer" is very much mistaken if he thinks he voices the feelings of the taxpayers regarding the conduct of the Works Committee towards the drainage engineer. His reference to Mr Gore, ono of the ringleaders of that clique, at once taints his statements, while his letter further shows that the late Works Committee considered themselves the board and as good engineers as the expert adviser of the board. The public generally are with you, Sir, and those new members who havo lot daylight into what.has been going on,..and many of your readers are surprised at your moderate criticisms on the facts and circumstances which so far have been disclosed. Let those old members do less hitting below the belt. We are tired of these dogmatic so-called practical men on public bodies.—l am, etc., Selwyn, N.E. Valley. ' R. G.
